Youth Empowerment Support (“YES” INITIATIVE)
At the OMJ Foundation, we believe that young people are the heartbeat of community transformation. Our Youth Empowerment Support is dedicated to equipping the youth of Akuapem South with the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to build meaningful futures and contribute positively to society.
We focus on creating practical, sustainable pathways that empower young people to become self-reliant, socially responsible, and economically active. Through targeted programs, mentorship, and real-world engagement, we help our youth unlock their potential and turn their ambitions into reality.
Core Areas of Youth Empowerment
1. Skills Development & Artisanal Training
We provide hands-on vocational and artisanal training for young people who want to build trade-based careers. These trainings include:
• Carpentry & woodwork
• Tailoring, fashion design & sewing
• Hairdressing & barbering
• Welding & fabrication
• Plumbing & electricals
• Catering & baking
• Driving
• Painting
• Bead-making, craft design & other creative arts
By offering practical, employable skills, we create direct pathways to employment and entrepreneurship, enabling young people to start their own businesses or join the local workforce with confidence.
2. Entrepreneurship & Business Support
We nurture youth-led business ideas through:
• Entrepreneurship bootcamps
• Business planning clinics
• Start-up coaching
• Access to micro-grants and tools
• Financial literacy and savings education
This ensures that young people not only have skills but also understand how to run successful enterprises.
3. Mentorship & Leadership Development
Our mentorship network connects young people with experienced professionals, community leaders, and industry experts who guide them in:
• Career development
• Personal growth
• Leadership building
• Social responsibility
We help cultivate responsible future leaders for Akuapem South and beyond.
4. Community Engagement & Volunteerism
Through community service initiatives, youth forums, and local development projects, we encourage young people to become active contributors to community growth. This builds a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and civic pride.
Over the years, The “YES” INITIATIVE has empowered over 50 young people with skills, support, and opportunities.
The Youth Empowerment Support is not just an initiative — it is an investment in the future.
By equipping the youth with skills, opportunities, and support, we are nurturing a generation capable of transforming Akuapem South and inspiring change across Ghana.
